Well, I've been doin' very well without running a formal log, or really even keeping track of stats. But, the days are running short, so I figured it was time to get down to business. This log will help me stay focused and give you guys a place to talk shit about how much of a mu'fukkin' pussy I am. I started cutting around mid-January. So far, I've dropped about 20lbs. My goal is to keep dropping fat while maintaing as much lean mass as possible until I get a 6-pack... whatever BF that may be. I'm shootin' for the 200-205 range. Starting stats.... (will fill in later tonight, along w/ some photos) Height: 5'10" BW: 225 BF: ~16-17% ? Don't have calipers anymore, so I like to guess on the high side. Upper left quad: Upper right quad: Lower left quad: Lower right quad: Left calf: Right calf: Left bicep: Right bicep: Left forearm: Right forearm: Shoulder: Chest: Innertube: Waist: Ghetto booty: Neck: Skull (tribute to Barry Bonds): EYE OF THE TIGER, BITCHES!

Tuesday, 4/1 Core Workout band trunk twist band progression press up band progression press down Rope pull-through Russian twist Saxon (sp?) side-bends Good morning Lying leg raise/crunch BB Thruster Towel pullup Incline pushup band side lateral band v-raise Comments: Popped 5mg yohimbine-HCL w/ my standard 200mg caffeine + 250mg tyrosine. Talk about sweat. Sheesh. I went through two hand towels. All the exercises above were done in a non-ordered rotation w/ varying weight/resistance. I took it somewhat easy on direct ab work. I have to work those back up slowly, otherwise they cramp early in the workout ruining the rest of the workout. I did lateral raises, pushups, and a few towel pullups (very slow... only did 3 per set) just to get some blood flowing in those areas. They aren't necessarily core exercises. I did the BB thruster w/ just the bar to help keep my heart rate up and burn a few calories. Plus, I'm trying to work on flexibility and I believe these help. I forgot that my dog chewed up my measuring tape a long time ago, so I'm gonna get to the store today for another one. Hopefully, I'll have some measurements and pics tonight. They will be posted in the first post up top.

Wednesday, 4/2 Full Body BB deadlift 225 x 8, 6, 6, 4 Stand. calf raise 150 x 10 130 x 10 110 x 12 110 x 10 DB incline press 100 x 8 80 x 8 70 x 7 60 x 9 DB side lat. raise 35 x 8 25 x 7 20 x 7 15 x 10 Comments: I'm trying no to puke as I write this. Great workout today. Deads felt pretty good. I'm not going to go 'heavy' on them. But, doing them slow and reseting after every rep gets it for me. Calf raises are done explosively and superset w/ the deadlifts. Smashed the hundos on the DB incline. Felt pretty easy considering I haven't gone over 80 since last year. My hips were cramping up a little while trying to do the inclines. That sucked. DB side lat. raises and inclines were superset. I swear I'll get some pics and meas. soon.

20lbs, great progress! It's really hard to drop fat and maintain muscle naturally. I'm at the end of a 22 week cut, at which I lost about 35lbs naturally. I went from 220lbs @ 23% to 185lbs @ 15%. Not all of it was fat though, around 23lbs fat, 12lbs muscle. It's inevitable, unless you drag it out for a LOOONG time, you're gunna lose muscle. Getting that six pack is worth it though.
Once I get to single digit fat %, I'm going to try and stay lean. It's just not worth it if you have to diet down for so long, and lose all your gains.
Interested in seeing what foods your diet consists of, how many calories, and what macronutrient ratios look like.

I can't give you exact numbers... I don't really keep track (yeah, I should). I am restricting carbs A LOT... < 30g / day. I eat when I'm hungry and snack on some kind of protein when I'm not. I eat a ton of chicken breast, sirloin steak, bacon, whole eggs, spinach and romaine salads w/ full-fat/no-carb dressing, broccoli + ranch dip, celery + natty PB, etc.. The only carbs I allow myself ( other than the small amount in my pre-workout Muscle Milk) are from veggies and trace carbs in various sauces and such. Tons of water. I can't really get more specific than that. I used to do Fitday. I may start that back up sometime.

Yup... got a scale. Thing is, I've tried getting 'hardcore' and keeping track of EVERYTHING. It wore me out. I did learn a lot from the times I've kept track... so I use that knowledge to somewhat 'wing it' now. Also, this 'diet' isn't really a diet... it's more of a lifestyle change. I feel much better on restricted carbs. Less hunger, never feel weak, feel great in the gym, etc. I don't know... maybe my body is programmed to handle the restricted carb diet better than others. I hear a lot of talk of others feeling 'weak' or 'flat'. I have felt neither. Thanks for the advice, though. I like hearing other people's thoughts on stuff. What's that? Got a link? | QUOTE | | Oh and congrats on the 20lbs drop. |
Thanks, brah. It wasn't even that tough. You just have to be patient and consistent. I started in January - earlier than most start their summer cut program - so I could take it nice and slow and not feel rushed.

Thursday, 4/3 Core Workout band trunk twist band progression press up band progression press down Rope pull-through Russian twist Saxon (sp?) side-bends Good morning Lying leg raise/crunch Comments: All the exercises above were done in a non-ordered rotation w/ varying weight/resistance. I hit up a little more ab work (more sets). I have to work those back up slowly, otherwise they cramp early in the workout ruining the rest of the workout. The band exercises felt great. I love those things. The first set is a bit slow. But, the intensity and speed ramps up on each subsequent set to where I'm going as fast/hard as I can. Sweatin' like a mad man. If you are unsure of what the 'progression press up and press down' are, think 'woodchoppers'. The press up would be 'woodchopping' up (bands connected to low pulley), and the press down would be 'woodchopping' down (bands connected to high pulley).

I use Yohimbine HCL too, if i read that correctly. I dose it 7.5mg, with 200mg Caffeine tablet and two 500mg Alcalean from PrimaForce too. Great little stack, makes me feel super and less on cost! I take the little combo first thing in the morning be for I do Cardio. Then 20 minutes into the session I sip on Xtend (Orange flavor) for 10 minutes while I finish for a total of 30min cardio. I'm not tryimng to drastically cut though, 1-2 pounds is great for me. I'm just trying ti get back where I was before my loss.

Yup... I'm doing 5mg Y-HCL right now. I'll bump it up next week to 7.5mg. Then, on up to 9mg, eventually. I combine it w/ 200mg caffeine + 250mg L-tyrosine. I pop them first thing when I wake up. About 10 min. later, I'll start on my Muscle Milk and drink it throughout the workout, finishing the last 1/3 or so PWO.

I train Muscles 3x a week, so those days are my carb loads. Right after working a muscle group out (Mostly legs & back since my new restrictions), I take 3 scoops of CytoGainer and 12oz of skim milk. The same Night I use Muscle Milk too before bed. But during the day I use Lean Green and CLA, going on those for about a month now. Can really see some lines, but still have alittle work ahead of me. BUT I am feeling great and Happy with were I am at!

Friday, 4/4 Full Body BB thruster 85 x 8, 7 65 x 10, 7 Leg curl (uni., lying) 40 x 9 30 x 12, 10, 8 Pullups BW x 9, 7 (towel) BW x 5 (wide) BW x 6 (chin) BW x 5 (wide behind head) DB bench press 70 x 13, 9 60 x 10 50 x 10 BB sumo deadlift high pull 65 x 10, 10, 10, 10 Tricep rope pulldown 60 x 20, 15, 12 Calf raise (stand.) 150 x 10 130 x 10 100 x 10 70 x 10 Comments: Excellent workout today. BB thrusters are tough. I need to work on my shoulder and calf flexibility. Gets the heart rate up, though. I superset the thrusters with lying uni. leg curls. Hammies have been gettin' hammered this week... they were a bit tender from Wed. deadlifts. I superset pullups w/ DB bench. I decided to do variations of pullups instead of just one type through all sets. I felt strong... pulled hard and had my chin over the bar on all reps. Went wide w/ the DB presses. I think I like the decline DB press vs. flat DB press, though. Tried BB sumo deadlift high pulls (that's a mouthfull). I did them explosively so that I ened up on my toes at the top of the lift. Great move to get the heart rate up. I went light... work on the form a little. Superset the high pulls w/ rope pulldowns. I throw random arm exercises... just feels good. Finished off the workout w/ standing calf raises. Again, these were done explosively w/ a puase at the top. Frickin' killed. My calves are coming around nicely since trying some new things.

Saturday, 4/5; Sunday, 4/6; Monday, 4/7 OFF Tuesday, 4/8 Full Body DB jump squat 30s x 10, 10, 10, 10 Pullups (wide, front) BW x 10, 10 8, 5 BB OH press (stand.) 95 x 12, 12 (back) 95 x 8, 8 (front) DB decline bench press 60s x 16, 12, 8, 8 DB walking lunge w/ OH DB hold 5s x 10, 10, 10, 10 Comments: Had to take yesterday (Mon.) off. I was still zonked out from my shindig Sat. night. This morning's workout went well. I had plenty of carbs at my disposal from the weekend carb loading (aka binging). Squat jumps and pullups were superset. BB OH and DB bench I did solo, followed by walking lunges. Tried walking lunges while holding DBs overhead (not pressing... static holding... shoulders to ears). I just used the little 5s because I was doing this mainly for shoulder and leg/ hip flexibility. I feel much more balanced when doing things like lunges since I've started some of these "cross-fit-ish" exercises into my routine. Tomorrow will be a nice core workout. I'm starting to really dig those. People look at me like I'm a freak, but that's motivation - they just don't know it.

Wednesday, 4/9 Core Workout band trunk twist band progression press up band progression press down Rope pull-through Russian twist Saxon (sp?) side-bends Good morning Lying leg raise/crunch BB OH tricep ext./press BB curl BB one-arm deadlift BB OH squat Comments: All the exercises above were done in a non-ordered rotation w/ varying weight/resistance. I hit up a little more ab work (more sets). I have to work those back up slowly, otherwise they cramp early in the workout ruining the rest of the workout. Woke up, popped some caffeine, tyrosine, and yohimbine HCL. Proceeded to shit, brew some coffee for the wife, and make up a delicious orange cream Muscle Milk shake. Mmm mmmm. Slammed that puppy up to and through my workout. First thing I did when I got to the gym was tan... trying to be jacked AND tan! Building up a base before I start trying a little Atomic Meltdown. I tried a couple different exercises today. BB OH tricep ext./press is like a close-grip OH press and a French press in one motion. Just for a nice burn and high shoulder extention at the top. Superset those w/ bicep curls and had some great arm/shoulder pumps. I also tried the BB deadlift one handed. Felt good. Now onto the brutality. BB OH squats. Holy crap. I've been working on shoulder flexibility and this is the first time I've been able to actually squat worth a crap while doing these. I felt this up and down my entire back. But, it was a good feeling... like a "hey, I'm kickin' some ass" feeling. Overall, a great workout.
