Diet - Night Time Protein???

Im starting my diet and I am quite familiar with the phrase dont eat late at night...

I would like some suggestions on what to eat/drink as a snack

I work out early in the morning, go to work, and then attend night classes.

After I get home, usually after 9, I'm pretty hungry, I typically make myself a protein shake with skim milk and some berries.

Is this too much sugar? Should I switch to a slower digesting protein at night? or would that possibly lead to fat?

thanks

you could try some casein protein shakes or cottage cheese and some natty pb, dont do a full 2tbsp serving if you are afraid of packing on fat, unless you havent taken in enough cals through out the day already

eggs, any kind of nuts, cottage cheese, and milk are great cheap protiens for night time or any time for that matter.

What and how much you can eat depends on how what your calorie count is already by the time you get home. 1 cup of cottage chese is your best bet. it's filling, low cal, high protein, slow digesting and you will sleep like a baby.

+1 on cottage cheese and casein.

A big can of tuna is great before bed too. Not sure what the rate is for meats and fish but im sure its slow.

I believe Fat slows down the absorbtion rate of protein. Some fish oil with your whey shake or a tsp or 2 of natty PB is good to go for a slower release.

I'll usually have Muscle Milk in skim milk w/ a tablespoon of flax oil before bed. Granted your calorie restrictions may not allow that but depends what you've already had that day and how much room you have left at the end.

basically the same as everyone is saying.. i usually try to avoid milk cuz the sugar and if im eating cottage cheese i go for the low carb version.. my favorite before bed meal is 1 cup cottage cheese 2tbs peanut butter and 1 scoop of whey or casien i mix it all together sounds gross but its f*cking good.

blink.gif That chicken looks naaaaasty.

But, like Jay said, it probably wouldn't look too bad if you dressed it up a bit. And, I bet it does taste pretty good.
