I have read that yohimbe bark is a short term MAOI. If this is true, wouldn't it be advisable to not take it with certain foods? How about yohimbine HCL?

I guess my real question is, does anyone out there have some knoweldge in regards to yohimbe's apparent MAOI actions?

It's speculated that yohimbe as an herb acts as an MAOI, but isolated yohimbine doesn't. If so, it's probably one of the other alkaloids (akin to the differences between ephedrine and synephrine, two ephedra alkaloids).

If that's the case, I would think that there shouldn't be any negative food interactions with yohimbine HCl, but one might need to be careful with yohimbe. If you're taking it for fatloss, I really don't see much of a reason to take yohimbe instead of yohimbine in the first place. As for anything at all beyond this, I don't know much else, but I'm sure David (shpongled) would be able to tell you.

Okay, I just read Tolson's yohimbine article, which I should've done in the first place. Anyway, if yohimbe acts as an MAOI, is it safe to assume that it can be used as part of an Ayahuasca ritual to allow the DMT to pass through undisturbed?

No. It is only a weak MAOI, and I wouldn't want to be megadosing yohimbine in conjunction with DMT. Ingredients and instructions on making ayahuasca are pretty easy to find online.
